Works of fiction featuring librarians as characters
Idiosyncratic list, brought on by interacting with an on-line friend of mine who is a librarian.

Aird, Catherine. The Complete Steel (a.k.a. The Stately Home Murder)
character: Osbourne Meredith (first murder victim), originally hired by the Earl as a bowler for the local cricket team but drifted into being a librarian at the Earl's house as he got older

Hambly, Barbara. Dog Wizard
character: Seldes Katne

McCaffrey, Anne. Restoree. (McCaffrey's first published book, this was).
character: the protagonist

Pratchett, Terry. The Discworld series
character: the Librarian of Unseen University, who's quite happy with the results of the magical accident that transformed him into an orangutang, thank you, and has concealed evidence about his original name to avoid being changed back

Rowling, J.K. The Harry Potter books
character: Madam Pince
